US President Donald Trump has issued a sharp 48-hour ultimatum to Iran, demanding that Tehran reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz. In a social media statement on March 26, Trump emphasized that Iran has just two days to comply or face severe consequences.
Trump reminded Iran of a prior 10-day window to “make a deal” or allow safe passage through the vital waterway. The US President has coupled his warnings with threats to target Iran’s energy infrastructure while also pursuing a diplomatic resolution to ongoing tensions.
Earlier, Trump acknowledged that he extended the deadline at Iran’s request. Despite this, Tehran dismissed the US proposal as “one-sided and unfair,” rejecting Washington’s attempt to negotiate an end to the conflict.
The situation highlights the escalating pressure on Iran amid rising tensions in the Gulf, as the US balances diplomatic overtures with strategic military warnings to secure international shipping routes.
