The United Arab Emirates (UAE) joined a high-level ministerial meeting with regional countries on Wednesday in Riyadh to discuss the recent attacks carried out by Iran.
UAE Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Almarar represented the country at the meeting. Representatives from Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Turkey were also present.
During the meeting, all participating countries strongly condemned Iran’s missile and drone attacks. These attacks targeted civilian areas and key infrastructure, including oil facilities, water desalination plants, airports, residential areas, and diplomatic buildings.
The countries clearly stated that such attacks cannot be justified under any circumstances. They also reaffirmed that every nation has the right to defend itself, as per Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
The participants urged Iran to immediately stop all attacks and follow international law and humanitarian principles. They stressed that reducing tensions and promoting diplomacy is essential for maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The nations also highlighted that future relations with Iran will depend on its respect for the sovereignty of other countries. They called on Iran to avoid interfering in internal matters, violating borders, or using military power to threaten regional security.
In addition, the countries referred to UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), asking Iran to:
Immediately stop all attacks
Avoid any provocative actions or threats
End support, funding, and arming of militias in Arab countries
Ensure safe international navigation, especially in the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandab
The meeting concluded with a strong call for peace, stability, and diplomatic solutions to ongoing tensions in the region.
