Train Collision Between Pezinok and Bratislava Injures Dozens, Rail Halted

The accident took place shortly after train REX 1814, traveling from Nitra to Bratislava, departed Pezinok station and collided head-on with train Ex 620. Rail services on the route have been suspended, and the state-run carrier ZSSK warned of significant delays and possible closures while engineers and emergency teams assess the damage. “Emergency services are responding at the scene of the accident, and several injuries have been reported,” ZSSK said, emphasizing that passenger and staff safety remains the top priority.

Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok is traveling to the site to oversee rescue and investigation operations. ZSSK has launched a full inquiry in coordination with national railway and transport authorities to determine the circumstances behind the collision.
