According to reports shared on social media, a co-passenger claimed that the man had consumed the soft drink and shortly afterward experienced discomfort. The passenger was reportedly taken to a hospital after the flight landed in Pune. SpiceJet’s Official Statement
In response, SpiceJet issued an official statement clarifying the situation. The airline emphasized that all beverages served on its flights are always handed over to passengers in sealed containers. Passengers themselves open the cans or bottles before consumption.
The statement read: “All canned and bottled beverages on its flights are always served sealed, with passengers themselves unsealing them when they choose to consume the drink. On the Goa–Pune flight, the passenger had ordered a sealed soft drink can along with a packet of fox nuts, which were served in line with the practice. The passenger later reported discomfort after drinking from the can and alleged the presence of a foreign metal object.”
This clarification highlighted that the airline follows strict procedures for serving food and beverages, and the products served are sealed and sourced from certified vendors.
Immediate Response by Cabin Crew
The cabin crew acted quickly when the passenger reported discomfort. They immediately checked if any doctor was onboard, but none was available during the flight. The crew kept the captain informed about the situation and coordinated with the airport team in Pune to ensure proper medical assistance was arranged.
