Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Judicial Council, chaired a high-level meeting on Wednesday at the Holy Quran Academy.
During the meeting, His Highness commended the Judicial Council members for their dedicated efforts in strengthening the judicial system and upholding the rule of law. He highlighted their role in ensuring a fair and transparent legal environment that protects rights and promotes societal stability.
Focus on Judicial Efficiency and Transparency
The Council reviewed key measures aimed at enhancing judicial performance and improving court efficiency. Discussions focused on accelerating case resolution, refining litigation procedures, and achieving higher levels of accuracy and transparency in judicial processes.
Approval of New Regulations
A major highlight of the meeting was the approval of a comprehensive package of regulatory bylaws designed to modernize judicial work and align it with global best practices. These include:
Judicial Inspection Regulation
Code of Judicial Conduct
Family Guidance Regulation
Visitation Rights Regulation for Custodial Children
Professional Conduct for Family Counselors
Regulation for Marriage Officials
These frameworks aim to strengthen governance, accountability, and integrity within the judicial system.
Specialised Prosecution Departments Announced
In a significant step towards specialization, the Council approved the establishment of several new prosecution departments, including:
Public Funds Prosecution
Economic Crimes and Money Laundering Prosecution
Narcotics Prosecution
Family and Child Prosecution
Traffic Prosecution
Information Technology Prosecution
This move is expected to streamline case handling, improve expertise, and ensure faster justice delivery in line with evolving legal challenges.
Support for Women in Judiciary
The Council also approved an annual forum for female judges to be held on March 10, marking the International Day of Women Judges. The initiative aims to empower women in the judiciary and provide a platform for knowledge-sharing and professional development.
Visit to Quranic Heritage Museum
On the sidelines of the meeting, His Highness visited the Museum of Celebrated Reciters at the Holy Quran Academy. The museum showcases the legacy of renowned Quran reciters from across the Arab world.
Among the distinguished figures featured are Abdul Basit Abdus Samad, Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, Ali Abdullah Jaber, and Bakri Al-Tarabishi.
His Highness explored rare collections, including historical recordings, manuscripts, photographs, and personal belongings that reflect the rich heritage of Quranic recitation.
Advanced Production Facilities
The visit also included a tour of the academy’s modern studios equipped with cutting-edge technology for Quranic, television, and radio production. Officials briefed His Highness on the production process and highlighted several complete Quran recordings produced to international standards.
