MADINAH: Nestled along the Red Sea coast, 180 km west of Madinah, the enchanting village of Al-Rayis emerges as a sought-after destination for nature lovers. Blessed with pristine beaches and ivory sands, it captivates hikers, recreational enthusiasts, and fishermen alike.
Al-Rayis boasts a rich tapestry of attractions, featuring community events such as seasonal maritime sports competitions, sailboat racing, family cruise programs, and delectable seafood festivals. The village's beaches, a haven for families, have become a pivotal source of economic activity in the region. Visitors flock throughout the year to bask in the tranquility of its shores, relish breathtaking sunsets, and partake in leisurely cruises, complete with fish meals offered by seafood restaurants along the commercial street adjacent to the northern corniche of Al-Rayis.
In recent years, Al-Rayis has experienced a surge in popularity, attributed to the development of public services, maritime infrastructure, afforestation projects, and the support and growth of small investment ventures aimed at enticing tourists and expanding economic opportunities for locals.
Mohammed Al-Saidi, a resident, notes the increasing influx of hikers, especially during the summer, weekends, national events, and holidays. He underscores the necessity for additional accommodations such as furnished apartments and hotels to enhance competitiveness and bolster tourism in Al-Rayis.
Salem Al-Sobhi, another resident, emphasizes the economic significance of Al-Rayis, tracing its influence back to ancient times. The historical Al-Jar port, a focal point centuries ago, played a pivotal role in Madinah's economic activity. Al-Sobhi points to ancient ruins in Al-Rayis, underscoring evidence of settlements and the port's historical impact, serving as a vital hub for seaborne cargo vessels.
Al-Rayis stands not only as a testament to its historical legacy but as a vibrant modern destination, beckoning visitors with its natural beauty, cultural richness, and a flourishing tourism sector rooted in thoughtful development and preservation efforts."
