Ruhabat Fabrics Shine at Altyn Asyr Center

The textile landscape in Turkmenistan is experiencing consistent growth, showcased by an extensive selection of fabrics from the Ruhabat Textile Complex at the «Altyn Asyr» marketing hub in Ashgabat. This initiative underscores the nation’s dedication to enhancing its textile sector.

Traditionally recognized as a hub for sericulture along the Silk Road, Turkmenistan is revitalizing its heritage by advancing contemporary textile production. The «Altyn Asyr» center has emerged as a significant spot for buyers in search of premium fabrics proudly carrying the “Made in Turkmenistan” tag.

Among the variety of materials available are gabardine, satin, viscose, poplin, cotton flannel, ripstop, tarpaulin, and cretonne, predominantly sourced from the Ruhabat Textile Complex, operational since 2010.

This complex has transformed into a comprehensive production entity, blending spinning, weaving, and dyeing processes. It specializes in producing blended yarns of domestic cotton with polyester and lycra while also accommodating custom orders, many of which find their way to international markets.

Recently, the assortment has extended to newer fabric types featuring modern colors and intricate floral designs, particularly tailored for outerwear. Alongside raw textiles, the complex crafts finished items including traditional headscarves, tablecloths, and prayer rugs.

In an effort to foster innovation, the government is promoting online purchasing options within the textile realm. Looking forward, the upcoming Turkmen Textile Expo in Ashgabat is expected to showcase the sector’s advancements and future prospects, merging traditional techniques with state-of-the-art technologies.
