Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the rollout of free Wi-Fi service at 17 public bus stations and 12 marine transport stations in collaboration with e& (formerly Etisalat). This service is part of RTA's effort to improve the experience for commuters. Now, passengers can stay connected while traveling, using their smartphones, tablets, and laptops on the move.
Khaled Abdulrahman Al Awadhi, Director of Transportation Systems at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, shared more details about the project. He explained that the Wi-Fi devices have been installed at 29 stations so far. RTA is working quickly to extend the service to all 43 stations, which include 21 bus stations and 22 marine transport stations. The final installations are expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2025.

This Wi-Fi initiative is part of RTA's larger goal to speed up digital changes across all services. It’s aligned with the UAE's vision for a more connected society. By providing free Wi-Fi, RTA hopes to make bus and marine transport rides more enjoyable, allowing commuters to stay connected. This is also in line with Dubai's aim to become the smartest and happiest city in the world.
Al Awadhi added that the Wi-Fi service would be continuously reviewed to ensure that it can be improved. RTA will keep working closely with e& to make sure passengers across Dubai’s bus and marine transport network enjoy the best possible connection.
