The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society in Thailand has issued an important alert that numbness in the hands and feet may signal significant underlying health problems. This statement follows an examination by the Anti-Fake News Center of Thailand, which has classified the issue as one of the most discussed health matters online.
While numbness can often be harmless—like when it's due to improper posture—health officials emphasize that it can sometimes indicate severe medical conditions. Verified by the Institute of Neurology under the Ministry of Public Health, symptoms such as sudden numbness on one side of the body, difficulty articulating words, vision disturbances, or balance issues could suggest critical issues like stroke and should prompt immediate medical evaluation.
Healthcare professionals warn that ongoing numbness extending for days or weeks, numbness with weakness, or challenges in limb movement, along with loss of bladder control, are serious concerns. Even symptoms like rapid numbness spreading from fingers or persistent coordination issues require prompt consultation with a medical expert.
The Ministry has also expressed alarm regarding the proliferation of misinformation online. Authorities urge the public to trust only verified, official sources and refrain from sharing unverified health claims. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious content to the Anti-Fake News Center to help curtail the spread of false information and enhance community health literacy.
