Dubai is hosting the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025, a major global event where leaders and experts come together to discuss the future of governance. On the first day of the summit, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met with His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Al Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Prime Minister of Kuwait.
The meeting took place in the presence of:
His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
His Excellency Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Governments Summit.
Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation.
His Excellency Talal Belhoul Al Falasi, President of Dubai's State Security Department.
His Excellency Sultan bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World.
Strengthening UAE-Kuwait Relations
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid warmly welcomed Kuwait’s Prime Minister, who delivered a keynote speech on the first day of the summit.
During their meeting, both leaders spoke about the strong historical ties between the UAE and Kuwait and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in different areas such as trade, development, and government modernization.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the important role of the WGS in bringing governments together to share ideas and develop strategies for the future. He emphasized that Arab nations must work closely in various sectors to drive progress and improve people’s lives.
He also noted that the summit has played a key role in enhancing international partnerships, helping governments grow their economies, and improving the overall well-being of societies. He wished Kuwait’s leadership and people continued success, growth, and prosperity.
Kuwait’s Support for Global Cooperation
Sheikh Ahmad Al Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah praised the UAE’s efforts in organizing WGS 2025 and said the event helps governments improve public services and boost development. He added that such gatherings are necessary for building strong international partnerships that benefit all nations in the region.
A Global Summit for Future Governance
The World Governments Summit 2025 began on Tuesday, February 13, in Dubai and has gathered:
30+ heads of state and government.
Representatives from 80+ international and regional organizations.
140 government delegations.
The summit features:
21 global forums discussing key future trends.
Over 200 interactive sessions with more than 300 speakers, including presidents, ministers, and experts.
30+ ministerial meetings and roundtables, attended by over 400 ministers.
30 strategic reports published in collaboration with leading global research organizations.
Under the theme “Shaping Future Governments,” the summit will continue until February 13 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
