Dubai is hosting the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025, a global event where leaders from different countries come together to discuss the future of governance. On the first day of the summit, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, met with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, His Excellency Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman & CEO of Emirates Airline and Group.

Strengthening UAE-Pakistan Relations
Sheikh Mohammed warmly welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation, reaffirming the long-standing friendship between the UAE and Pakistan. He emphasized the strong ties between the two nations and their shared commitment to working together in different fields.
During the meeting, both leaders discussed ways to improve cooperation, especially in economic growth, development projects, and other areas that benefit both countries. They agreed that strong international partnerships help nations tackle challenges and create new opportunities for progress.

Importance of Global Cooperation
Sheikh Mohammed spoke about the importance of working together on a global scale. He highlighted that events like WGS allow countries to collaborate, share ideas, and develop strategies to address key challenges facing the world today. He also praised Pakistan’s efforts in strengthening its economy and improving its governance.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude for the UAE’s continuous support for Pakistan, especially in the development sector. He described the UAE as a model of success in government policy and innovation, not just in the region but globally. He emphasized that Pakistan is committed to strengthening its partnership with the UAE in different areas to promote economic growth and progress.
Sharif also praised WGS for bringing together world leaders, experts, and decision-makers to exchange knowledge and find solutions that improve governance and international cooperation. He said such efforts help build a better future for all.
A Global Summit for Future Governance
The World Governments Summit 2025, which began on Tuesday in Dubai, has gathered more than 30 heads of state and government, representatives from over 80 international and regional organizations, and delegations from 140 governments.
The event features:
21 global forums discussing important future trends and changes.
Over 200 interactive sessions with more than 300 speakers, including presidents, ministers, and experts.
More than 30 ministerial meetings and roundtables attended by over 400 ministers.
The release of 30 strategic reports in partnership with leading international research organizations.
This year’s summit is being held under the theme “Shaping Future Governments” and will continue until February 13 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
