Miss Universe 2025 Faces Major Controversy as Judge Resigns Over Alleged Unfair Judging

The Miss Universe 2025 pageant, one of the biggest beauty events in the world, is facing serious controversy just days before the final competition in Bangkok, Thailand. Omar Harfouch, a composer and judge for this year’s event, has resigned and made strong allegations that the competition was not being run fairly.

Omar Harfouch announced his resignation through posts and stories on Instagram. He claimed that a secret committee had already selected the top 30 finalists even before the contestants took part in the preliminary rounds. This means that, according to him, many contestants might have been judged without even being properly evaluated on stage. His statements have shocked fans around the world who expect Miss Universe to be transparent and unbiased.

Harfouch said the committee involved in choosing the finalists was not the official judging panel. Instead, he alleged that a separate and unofficial group of people had created an “impromptu jury” and pre-decided who would move forward in the competition. He said this group included people who could have major conflicts of interest, including personal relationships with some contestants.

According to a report published on November 18, Harfouch shared that at least one member of the selection group had an alleged romantic relationship with a contestant. He added that this person was also responsible for counting votes and handling the competition results. If true, this would create a major problem, as the fairness of the judging could be easily questioned.

Harfouch also shared that he had a heated and “disrespectful” conversation with Miss Universe owner Raúl Rocha after he asked for more transparency in the judging system. He said he did not want to be part of a process that could influence the futures of contestants unfairly. He explained that as a judge, he signed up to evaluate all 136 contestants, not just 30 who were already chosen by a separate committee.

He said that a judge has a responsibility to give every participant a fair chance. In his words, he could not “play with the destiny of young girls” by accepting a limited and pre-decided selection list. While some judges may be happy just to be on television or part of the event, Harfouch said he could not compromise his principles.

His resignation has brought serious attention to the pageant, especially as this is not the first issue faced by Miss Universe 2025. Earlier, the competition made headlines when the Thai director of the event allegedly insulted Miss Mexico, leading to an argument and a contestant walkout. With these repeated controversies, the Miss Universe Organisation is under strong public pressure to explain its selection process and regain trust.

At this time, the Miss Universe Organisation has not publicly provided a detailed response to the allegations. Many fans and commentators are waiting to see whether the organisation will conduct an internal investigation or take steps to rebuild confidence in the event.

Miss Universe has historically been known for celebrating talent, beauty, confidence, and fairness. However, these new allegations have raised questions about how decisions are being made behind the scenes. With the final competition approaching, all eyes are now on Bangkok to see how the Miss Universe Organisation will handle this growing controversy and what impact it will have on the future of the event.

As fans, contestants, and former participants watch closely, this situation may become one of the most talked-about moments in the history of the pageant. Whether the organisation will restore trust remains to be seen, but many agree that fairness and transparency must remain at the heart of any global competition.
