Winter often makes the skin dry, dull, and lifeless. As the temperature drops and the air becomes less humid, the skin loses moisture quickly. Many people notice that their face becomes rough and flaky, and even regular skincare does not seem to work. To guide people through these common problems, Ayurvedic and skincare expert Vaishnavi Taneja shared simple and natural tips that can help maintain healthy skin throughout the cold season. Her advice focuses on both internal nourishment and gentle external care, which can be easily followed at home.

One of the first tips she shared is the daily use of ghee. A teaspoon of ghee consumed with warm water or milk can help nourish skin tissues from within. Ghee contains healthy fats that moisturize the body internally, making the skin softer and more hydrated. Many people struggle with dryness during winter because they only use external creams. This remedy supports the skin from the inside, helping it stay fresh and smooth even in cold weather.

She also recommended adding naturally sweet and moist fruits to the daily diet. Foods such as figs, raisins, and dates contain minerals, antioxidants, and natural moisture. These fruits help restore hydration at the cellular level, which helps keep the skin glowing and elastic. During winter, the body often needs more nourishment, and these foods offer a simple way to support skin health without depending solely on products.

Daily oil massage is another useful practice shared by the expert. Using warm oils like coconut, almond, or sesame and massaging the body before bathing can help improve blood circulation and lock in moisture. It strengthens the skin barrier and creates a natural shield against cold winds and dryness. Many people feel their skin tightening or itching in winter, and this traditional practice can provide long-lasting comfort and suppleness. It also brings a sense of relaxation and improves overall well-being.

Vaishnavi also highlighted the importance of using mild cleansers. Many soaps strip away natural oils from the skin, making dryness worse. Instead, she suggested using raw milk or a gentle herbal ubtan to clean the face. These natural options remove dirt without damaging the skin’s protective layer. When skin stays balanced, it remains smoother, softer, and healthier even in harsh weather. For people who struggle with sensitive skin, this simple switch can make a noticeable difference.

To give the skin an extra boost, she shared a nourishing face pack recipe. The pack can be prepared using ingredients like liquorice powder or oats mixed with rich flour, honey, aloe vera gel, and milk. This mixture provides deep hydration and helps improve texture while calming irritation and dryness. The natural ingredients soothe the skin and bring back a healthy, fresh look. Many store-bought masks contain chemicals that may not suit winter skin, but this homemade pack is gentle and effective.

Winter skincare often becomes complicated because people tend to look for many products at once. However, Vaishnavi’s approach shows that simple, traditional, and natural steps can be enough to take care of the skin. By focusing on diet, hydration, oiling, gentle cleansing, and natural face care, anyone can maintain soft, glowing skin without spending too much. These methods have been part of traditional self-care for years and continue to work well today.

As winter continues, following small daily habits can protect the skin from the harsh effects of cold weather. Consistency is key. Drinking enough water, eating nourishing food, and using soft skincare products can together create a visible improvement. Skin reflects how the body feels internally, and a little attention each day can keep it healthy and beautiful throughout the season.
