Sharjah, UAE — November 2025:
The 2025 Sharjah International Book Fair celebrated a milestone for Pakistani literature with the unveiling of Marni Khan and the Ancient Silk Route, the inaugural book in an innovative fantasy series by acclaimed Irish-Pakistani author Saniya Chughtai. The launch event attracted a host of notable guests, literary figures, and enthusiastic young readers, underscoring a significant advancement for diverse representation in fantasy literature.
Honoring the event was His Excellency Hussain Mohammed, Pakistan’s Consul General in Dubai, who attended alongside the renowned shoe designer Nosheen Saba Khan. The gathering brought together members of the local literary scene, educators, families, and media professionals to commemorate the emergence of Marni Khan — the first heroic figure from Pakistan’s global fantasy narrative.
A New Heroine on the Ancient Silk Route
Marni Khan and the Ancient Silk Route kicks off The Rise of the Energy Warriors, a creatively layered saga that draws inspiration from Pakistani folklore, mythology, and breathtaking landscapes.
Tagline: Journeying along the Silk Route, Marni must uncover the mysteries of her mother’s magical silk cloth while guarding it from dark spirits that seek its power.
Nestled in the enchanting mountains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Marni's journey reveals hidden strengths within her. Her fate is intertwined with ancient forces, leading her to become the inaugural Energy Warrior — a beacon of bravery and identity for youth everywhere.
Author Saniya Chughtai remarked:
“Marni Khan embodies Pakistan's spirit as a fantasy heroine. I aimed to depict how bravery, imagination, and identity can emerge from our unique landscapes and mythologies.”

Birth of the Energy Warriors
Central to the series is a unique mythology that reflects Pakistan's rich cultural heritage. The story brings to life magical artifacts, including:
The Dhaal — a luminous shield of light
The Suals — divine energy symbols given to the chosen
Marni’s distinct Pulse Energy, illustrated by a swirling emblem on her arm, connects her to hidden realms and the legacy of future Energy Warriors.
A Fusion of Storytelling and Couture
Adding a creative flair to the launch, celebrated designer Nosheen Saba Khan showcased the exclusive “Marni Khan” shoes from her luxury brand Nobak_official. The custom designs feature the Energy Warrior swirl motif, embodying inner strength and the journey of heroism, marrying fashion with the enchanting world of the novel.
