Jamie Chadwick, one of Britain’s most successful female racing drivers, has shared that her main goal is now to reach the top level of the World Endurance Championship (WEC). At 27 years old, she has accepted that her long-held dream of racing in Formula One is becoming less likely. Instead, she feels that endurance racing offers her a real and exciting opportunity to compete at the highest level of motorsport.
Next season, Chadwick will work as the official reserve driver for Hyundai’s new Genesis Magma Racing Hypercar programme. She will also be involved in the development side of the team, helping engineers and drivers improve the performance of the hypercar. For Chadwick, this is an important step forward. She believes the move brings her closer to competing in the hypercar class of the WEC, which is the championship’s top category.
Speaking about her goals, Chadwick said she now sees the WEC as her main focus. She explained that reaching the hypercar class feels more realistic for her compared to earning a race seat in Formula One. She added that she is now closer than ever to achieving this target, and that this makes her excited about the future of her racing career. Her aim is not only to compete in the hypercar class but also to try to win the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans race, which is considered one of the greatest achievements in motorsport.
Chadwick already has experience in endurance racing. She competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year in the LMP2 category with the IDEC racing team, although she did not finish the race. She has also raced in the European Le Mans Series, gaining more knowledge of long-distance racing and teamwork. These experiences have helped her understand the demands of endurance racing, including sharing a car with teammates, maintaining consistency over long periods, and managing different racing conditions.
Before turning her attention fully to endurance racing, Chadwick built a strong reputation in single-seater racing. She won the all-female W Series three times, proving her skill and determination. She also worked as a development driver with the Williams Formula One team, where she gained experience with F1 technology and engineering. Even with these achievements, a full-time Formula One race seat has remained out of reach. No female driver has started an F1 grand prix since 1976, which shows how difficult the path can be.
Chadwick has spoken openly about the challenges women face in reaching Formula One. She said there is a strong desire from many people to see a woman compete in F1 again. However, she explained that F1 has only 20 seats and competition is extremely intense. Because of this, she believes fans and young drivers should also look toward other top-level championships where women can compete and succeed. She hopes her move toward endurance racing will show that there are many ways to achieve greatness in motorsport.
With her new role, growing experience, and a clear direction, Chadwick’s career is now firmly pointed toward endurance racing. She is determined to reach the hypercar category, compete at the top level of the WEC, and one day win the prestigious Le Mans race. For her, this path feels achievable, exciting, and full of opportunity. Her journey continues to inspire many young drivers, especially women, who dream of building careers in motorsport.
