The Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority has announced that May 15 is the last date to register for the 12th season of the television show “Million’s Poet.” Those who wish to participate can apply through the official website: www.millionspoet.ae.
To take part in this popular poetry competition, men and women between the ages of 18 and 45 must submit an original classical Nabati poem. The poem should follow traditional rules of meter and rhyme, and must be at least 10 lines and not more than 18 lines long. Only typed entries will be accepted—handwritten poems will be rejected. Complete application rules and instructions are available on the website.

Once the registration closes, a group of judges will review all the poems carefully, following strict guidelines that focus on both the literary and artistic value of the work. After this first stage, the best poets will be selected for in-person interviews, which are part of the selection process for the live televised shows. These rounds will be held at the Al Raha Beach Theatre in Abu Dhabi.
From the many entries, 48 poets will be chosen to compete in the live shows. They will try to win the Poetry Banner (Bayraq Al-Shi‘r) and share in prize money worth over AED 15 million, which is the highest prize pool for Nabati poetry competitions. The winner will be awarded the title “Million’s Poet”, the Poetry Banner, and a cash prize of AED 5 million.
“Million’s Poet” is the biggest and most respected Nabati poetry competition in the Arab world. It is very popular across the region and helps support Abu Dhabi’s cultural mission to promote and preserve traditional Nabati poetry, which represents the values, language, and identity of Arab heritage.
Since it first aired in 2006, the programme has run for 11 successful seasons, helping to discover and support hundreds of poets. Many of them have gone on to become famous in the world of poetry. Over the past 19 years, the show has played a major role in keeping Nabati poetry alive and making sure it stays part of the Arab world’s shared history and culture.
Those interested in competing are encouraged to visit the official website and apply before the May 15 deadline.
