Marc Marquez showed once again why he is the king of the MotorLand circuit by winning the Aragon Grand Prix on Sunday. Starting from pole position, the Ducati rider took first place and increased his lead in the championship.
His brother, Alex Marquez, finished in second place racing for Gresini Racing, while Marc’s teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, came in third. This made it a clean sweep for Ducati on the podium.
Last year, Marc had a perfect weekend at the same track, winning his first race after 1,043 days. He repeated that success this year by winning from pole position and sprint victory, marking his seventh MotoGP win at this circuit, which is a new record.
Marc’s performance was so strong that he led every session this weekend — warmups, practice, and qualifying. This is the first time a rider has done this in 10 years, since Marc himself did it at the 2015 German Grand Prix.

Marquez said, “It was an amazing weekend. I stayed focused and kept full concentration all the time. The others got closer each session, but during the race, the pace of Alex and Pecco (Bagnaia) was very fast and steady. I just managed the race to keep my lead.”
After the race, the two Marquez brothers celebrated together in front of their home fans. They even danced arm-in-arm in a special stand set up to honor Spain’s fastest brothers on two wheels.
Before the race weekend, the brothers had joked on social media about which one their mother would support. Marc got the last laugh by giving her a red Ducati shirt at the winner’s circle after the race.
Marc had also broken the lap record while earning his 99th career pole position. Despite a poor start in the sprint race on Saturday, he won his seventh sprint victory this season. On Sunday, he got a perfect start and led the race from the first corner.
Alex stayed in second place behind Marc. Behind them, KTM’s Pedro Acosta and Bagnaia fought hard for third place. They kept swapping positions by using slipstreams to pass each other, but Bagnaia, who has more experience, held onto the spot.
At the front, Marc kept setting the fastest lap times and pulled away from Alex, who could not keep up with his pace. Alex then had to watch as Bagnaia closed the gap behind him.
KTM’s Brad Binder crashed while in fifth place, which made his team’s crew chief very upset in the pit lane.
Alex soon found his speed again and held onto second place. Bagnaia also defended his position well against Acosta, stopping an all-Spanish podium finish. Bagnaia, currently third in the championship, is now 93 points behind Marc Marquez.
This win strengthens Marc Marquez’s lead in the championship and adds another memorable victory to his career.
