His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's Court, attended the closing day of the 17th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship. The event took place at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City and welcomed around 10,000 athletes from more than 130 countries, showing how much the championship has grown into a major global sporting event.
During the ceremony, Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed honoured the winners in the professional black belt divisions. His presence and support highlighted the UAE’s strong commitment to promoting jiu-jitsu locally and internationally. He praised the smooth organisation of the tournament, noting that it reflects the vision of the UAE’s leadership to support athletes and develop sports in the country.
The final day of the championship saw the attendance of several dignitaries and sports leaders. Among them were Sheikh Zayed bin Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Excellency Sheikh Suhail Bin Butti Suhail Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the General Authority of Sports; Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum; and Sheikh Tariq Bin Faisal bin Khalid Al Qassimi.
Also present were His Excellency Abdulmunem Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and a leading figure in regional and global jiu-jitsu organisations; His Excellency Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; and His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
The event was further supported by senior representatives from national sports bodies, cultural departments, and major companies, including officials from the Zayed Authority for People of Determination, ADNOC, and Palms Sports. Their participation highlighted the strong collaboration between sports organisations, government sectors, and key partners.
The championship concluded with celebrations, marking another successful year for one of the world’s biggest jiu-jitsu events. The UAE’s continued support ensures that Abu Dhabi remains a global hub for martial arts and a leading destination for world-class sports competitions.
