Japan Airlines (JAL) said on Thursday that it had fixed its systems after a cyberattack earlier in the day caused delays to some of its domestic and international flights. The airline also started selling same-day tickets again, after they were stopped during the issue.

The attack began at 7:24 a.m. local time and affected both JAL’s internal and external systems. JAL found out that a broken router caused the problem. The airline turned off the router to prevent more issues and worked quickly to get everything back to normal.
JAL reassured passengers that no personal data was stolen and that there were no harmful computer viruses involved. The airline made sure that no important information was at risk, and the attack did not cause serious damage.
ANA Holdings, Japan's other big airline, said its systems were not affected by the cyberattack. A spokesperson for ANA confirmed that they did not face any problems.
This attack happened just days after American Airlines had a technical problem earlier in the week. The problem grounded flights for an hour on Christmas Eve, causing trouble for many travelers. This shows how airports and airlines are becoming more vulnerable to technical issues and cyberattacks.
Japan Airlines took quick action to fix the issue, which helped reduce delays. However, the airline has not yet shared how many flights were affected. Passengers are advised to check for updates on their flights and confirm their status before traveling.
This situation highlights how important it is for airlines to have strong security measures to protect against cyberattacks and other technical problems.
