Abu Dhabi, UAE – In a powerful step toward enhancing the UAE’s healthcare ecosystem, the ISPOR UAE Chapter, a leading scientific body for health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with global biopharmaceutical giant AbbVie. The announcement was made during Abu Dhabi Global Health Week, signaling a shared vision to collaborate on strengthening healthcare policy, research, and evidence-based decision-making in the region.

The agreement outlines plans to explore strategic partnerships in Health Technology Assessment (HTA), policy shaping, and research and evidence generation. Through this initiative, both organizations aim to bolster the UAE’s healthcare system by combining ISPOR’s expertise in HEOR and AbbVie’s scientific and therapeutic knowledge.

Prof. Nadia Al Mazrouei, President of the ISPOR UAE Chapter, highlighted the importance of this milestone, saying:

“The ISPOR UAE Chapter remains committed to advancing excellence in health economics and outcomes research to better inform healthcare policy and decisions in the UAE. This collaboration with AbbVie, formalized at the prestigious Abu Dhabi Global Health Week, will help bridge our network of researchers and policymakers with valuable industry knowledge. We believe this partnership can generate meaningful research and lead to the development of patient-focused, evidence-driven healthcare solutions.”

Echoing this sentiment, Elhussein Abdellatif, General Manager Gulf Levant at AbbVie, stated:

“We are proud to strengthen our commitment to the UAE’s healthcare landscape by working closely with ISPOR UAE. Health Technology Assessment and forward-thinking healthcare policies are essential to improving access to vital therapies. By combining our scientific leadership with ISPOR’s HEOR capabilities, we aim to contribute to a more sustainable and patient-centered healthcare environment in the country.”
