His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, has launched a new and exciting community project called the Dubai Mallathon. This project is designed to help everyone in Dubai stay healthy and active, especially during the hot summer months.

What is Dubai Mallathon?
The Dubai Mallathon is a big fitness programme where seven shopping malls in Dubai will have special walking and running tracks. It will take place from 1st August to 31st August, every day in the morning from 7:00 am to 10:00 am. This way, people can exercise before the malls get crowded.
The participating malls include:
Dubai Mall
Mall of the Emirates
Dubai Hills Mall
Deira City Centre
City Centre Mirdif
Dubai Marina Mall
Springs Souk
People of all ages, including kids, teenagers, adults, senior citizens, and even mall employees, can join this fitness event. The best part is that it is completely free, and you can register online on www.dubaimallathon.ae.
Why is Dubai Mallathon Important?
Sheikh Hamdan said that Dubai wants to be the healthiest and happiest city in the world. He believes that fitness should be a part of daily life, not just something people do once in a while. The Mallathon will turn shopping malls into places where people can walk, run, and stay active in a comfortable and air-conditioned environment, especially when it is too hot to exercise outside.
He also said, “We are all partners in transforming our city into the world’s best place to live, work, and visit.” This means he wants everyone to take part in making Dubai a better place.
What Will Happen During Dubai Mallathon?
There will be:
Walking and running tracks inside the malls for safe and easy exercise
Free morning fitness activities from 7:00 am to 10:00 am daily
Fitness-tracking systems to help you see your progress
Health awareness stations to teach you about staying healthy
Special areas for children to make exercise fun for them
Guided stretching sessions to avoid injuries
This initiative is not just about exercise but also about learning how to live a healthy and sustainable life.
Who Supports This Event?
The Dubai Mallathon is sponsored by the Ministry of Defence and is held in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council. It is also aligned with the Year of Community, Dubai Social Agenda 33, and Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 33. These plans aim to provide the best living standards, cultural activities, and sports events to everyone living in Dubai.
How Will This Benefit People?
This project is designed to:
Help people become more active and healthier
Make use of big empty spaces in malls during the morning hours
Provide a safe place to exercise indoors away from the hot weather
Bring the community together and help people make new friends
Teach people about eating healthy food and making better lifestyle choices
Special Programmes and Offers
During the Dubai Mallathon, there will also be a special programme called ‘Walk for Better Health’, organised by Dubai’s Community Development Authority in collaboration with the malls. This programme will encourage people to walk more and improve their fitness in a simple way.
Also, many restaurants and shops in the malls will offer special deals to support this event. They will provide healthy meal options and discounts, making it easier for people to choose nutritious food after their workout. This is done to encourage everyone to build long-term healthy habits.
What Did Sheikh Hamdan Say?
Sheikh Hamdan shared his vision for the city. He said:
Dubai aims to set new global benchmarks in wellbeing by making fitness a part of everyone’s daily routine.
The Dubai Mallathon will transform normal shopping spaces into fitness hubs, making exercise fun and accessible.
He wants everyone in Dubai to feel that they can stay active and energised in a friendly environment.
This project shows Dubai’s commitment to keeping people and families at the centre of its development plans.
He also encouraged everyone to take part, saying, “Every step you take moves us closer towards a healthier Dubai.”
How To Participate?
It is very easy to join Dubai Mallathon:
Go to www.dubaimallathon.ae
Register yourself online for free
You will get a digital card after registration that confirms you are part of this event
Come to the mall between 7:00 am and 10:00 am during August and enjoy your fitness journey
Why is This Initiative Special?
Dubai is known for its huge shopping malls, but many people use them only for shopping or eating out. This initiative will change the way people see malls by making them places for fitness and health.
It also solves the problem of the extreme summer heat because people can exercise indoors without worrying about the sun. This makes it easier for everyone to keep up with their fitness goals throughout the year.
The Dubai Mallathon is a big step towards a healthier Dubai. It will bring people together, make fitness a part of daily life, and help build a community that cares about health and wellbeing.
Sheikh Hamdan’s message is clear – fitness is for everyone, and it is easy to stay active if we use the spaces around us in the right way.
So, if you live in Dubai or are visiting in August, don’t miss this chance to join the Dubai Mallathon. Bring your friends and family, walk or run together, and take the first step towards a fitter, healthier, and happier life.
