Veteran actor Govardhan Asrani, one of Bollywood’s most beloved comic actors, passed away at the age of 84 on Monday after a prolonged illness. His last rites were performed at Santacruz Crematorium in Mumbai. Govardhan Asrani’s demise marks the end of an era for Hindi cinema, where his comic timing and unforgettable expressions entertained generations. Just hours before his passing, the actor shared a Diwali greeting with his fans, reflecting his enduring connection with audiences.
Govardhan Asrani’s career spanned over five decades, during which he appeared in more than 350 films, leaving an indelible mark on Indian cinema. Asrani trained at the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, before making his Hindi film debut in the mid-1960s.
