Ilya Sutskever, a co-founder of OpenAI, has recently launched a new venture named Safe Superintelligence Inc (SSI) in San Francisco, just a month following his departure from the company known for its ChatGPT AI technology. This move comes in the wake of Sutskever and Jan Leike, another former OpenAI leader in the 'Superalignment' team, leaving under circumstances reportedly linked to disagreements with OpenAI's leadership earlier this year.
Jan Leike has since joined Anthropic, a competing AI firm backed by tech giants Google and Amazon. Meanwhile, Sutskever has articulated his vision for SSI on a prominent social media platform, emphasizing that their exclusive mission revolves entirely around superintelligence safety (SSI), which also serves as the core of their product roadmap.

"We are wholly committed to advancing capabilities swiftly while ensuring that safety measures always take precedence. This approach allows us to expand our operations securely," Sutskever stated in his announcement.
SSI's strategy is built upon a laser-focused dedication to their singular goal, avoiding distractions from managerial bureaucracy or fluctuating product cycles. Their business model prioritizes safety, security, and technological progress, shielding these objectives from immediate commercial pressures.
The company is now actively recruiting a highly specialized team comprising the world's foremost engineers and researchers who share their unwavering commitment to advancing SSI. "If you are passionate about contributing to one of the most critical technical challenges of our time, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact," the company's statement read.
With Sutskever at the helm and a determined focus on superintelligence safety, SSI aims to carve out a niche in the competitive landscape of artificial intelligence research and development, promising to provide a conducive environment for groundbreaking innovation in the field.
