Emirates is set to enhance its services to the Japanese city of Osaka by introducing its Airbus A380 aircraft on the Dubai-Osaka route from June 1. The A380 deployed on this route will be retrofitted with Emirates' latest product, Premium Economy, marking the introduction of this class to the Japanese market. This makes Osaka the second Japanese gateway to operate with the newly upgraded A380 aircraft.
The upgraded service is not only significant for introducing the highly sought-after Premium Economy Class to customers but also for increasing seat capacity on flights to and from Osaka. Currently served by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, the A380 will replace these planes on the EK316/EK317 service to and from Osaka's Kansai International Airport (KIX).
Emirates aims to offer an additional 910 weekly seats between Dubai and Osaka with the upgraded A380 operations. This expansion provides more travel options for passengers, facilitating connections to and beyond Dubai. Popular destinations such as Milan, Madrid, Brazil, Paris, and London will become more accessible to travelers.
Emirates celebrated the 20th anniversary of its services between Dubai and Osaka in the previous year. In 2023 alone, the airline transported over 220,000 passengers on more than 360 flights between these two gateways. The move to introduce the four-class A380 to Osaka underscores the airline's commitment to providing a world-class travel experience.
The four-class A380 configuration includes 14 First Class suites, 76 lie-flat seats in Business Class, 56 seats in Premium Economy Class, and 338 ergonomically designed seats in Economy Class. The Premium Economy cabin, located at the front of the main deck, features a 2-4-2 configuration, ensuring a comfortable and spacious layout. In-flight amenities, an inventive menu, and extensive beverage options contribute to a premium travel experience.
Emirates has successfully introduced its Premium Economy product on various routes, receiving positive responses from customers. Currently available on flights to 14 destinations globally, including cities like New York JFK, Los Angeles, London Heathrow, and Sao Paulo, Premium Economy has become a hallmark of Emirates' commitment to passenger comfort and choice.
The strategic move to operate A380 flights to Kansai International Airport aligns with Japan's anticipation of increased tourism, showcasing unique attractions in the Kansai region, such as Osaka and Kyoto. The Osaka-Kansai Expo planned for 2025 adds to the region's allure for international travelers.
Emirates already operates a daily four-class A380 service to Tokyo Narita and a daily Boeing 777-300ER service to Tokyo Haneda, further strengthening its presence and air connectivity in Japan. The airline remains dedicated to meeting the growing demand for travel to and from Japan's major international travel hubs, ensuring convenience for passengers.
