What Is the Dubai T100 Triathlon?

The T100 Triathlon is a race that combines swimming, cycling, and running. The full T100 race is 100 kilometers long, and it includes:

  • A 2km swim
  • An 80km bike ride
  • An 18km run
  • For people who want a shorter version, there is also the Sprint Distance:
  • 750m swim
  • 20km bike ride
  • 5km run

Anyone who is interested can register now by visiting the official website: https://t100triathlon.com/dubai/participate. But hurry—spots are going fast.

A Key Part of Dubai's Fitness Vision

Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), which is part of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), said this event supports Dubai’s long-term goals. The T100 Triathlon is part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), a city-wide campaign that encourages everyone to be active for 30 minutes a day for 30 days.

Mr. Al Khaja explained that this triathlon supports Dubai's larger plan, known as the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to make Dubai a top place for business, tourism, and healthy living. “After the huge success of the first event in 2024, we believe the 2025 edition will be even more powerful,” he said. “It will attract global attention, support our economy, and show the world what Dubai has to offer.”

2024 Was a Hit—Now 2025 Will Be Even Bigger

Eisa Sharif, Director of Sports Events at the Dubai Sports Council, said last year’s event in 2024 was a huge success. It brought the T100 Triathlon World Tour to Dubai for the very first time. Many people participated in both the long and short races, and the event became a highlight of the Dubai Fitness Challenge calendar.

“Dubai is now known as a major destination for triathlons,” Sharif said. “We have the infrastructure, we have the experience, and we have the passion to host events for everyone—men, women, professionals, and beginners.”

Big Names and Champions in the Spotlight

The Dubai T100 also brings in some of the best athletes from around the world. In 2024, the event crowned the first-ever T100 World Champions:

  • Marten Van Riel from Belgium (Men’s Champion)
  • Taylor Knibb from the USA (Women’s Champion)

Both athletes gave outstanding performances that inspired thousands of fans and fellow competitors.

A True Community Event for Everyone

One of the most beautiful parts of the event is that it’s not just for top athletes. In 2024, nearly 10,000 amateur participants took part in the different races, including:

  • The full 100km race
  • The Sprint distance

A fun and friendly 5km Music Run, which welcomed people of all ages and fitness levels

The 5km Music Run was not timed and was designed to help more people get involved in fitness in a fun way. This matched perfectly with the Dubai Fitness Challenge’s goal of getting people to move more every day.

New Additions for 2025: Schools and Corporate Teams

For 2025, the organizers are working on making the event even more inclusive. The Dubai Sports Council and PTO are introducing:

  • A Schools Event, where students can participate and experience the joy of triathlon
  • A Corporate Relay, where companies can form teams to compete together
  • These new categories are meant to bring in even more people and make the event feel like a true community celebration of health and fitness.

A Festival of Fitness and Fun

Sam Renouf, CEO of the Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO), said that the 2024 Dubai T100 Triathlon was a massive hit. He called it a “bucket-list race” for athletes around the world. He added that 2025 will build on that excitement with more fun, more races, and more ways to participate.

“This is not just a race,” he said. “It’s a festival. It’s a celebration of swimming, biking, and running. And it’s all happening at one of the most beautiful locations in the world—Meydan Racecourse.”

A Global Event With a Growing Tour

The Dubai T100 is part of the T100 Triathlon World Tour, which travels to cities around the world. In 2025, the tour has already made stops in:

  • Singapore (April 5–6)
  • San Francisco (May 31–June 1)
  • Vancouver (June 14–15)

The next stop is London (August 9–10). The tour will end in Qatar later in the year.

At the moment:

  • Julie Derron, an Olympic athlete from Switzerland, is leading the women’s rankings
  • Marten Van Riel, the 2024 Champion from Belgium, is leading the men’s rankings

Why This Event Matters for Dubai

The Dubai T100 is more than just a race. It supports Dubai’s goals of:

  • Promoting healthy lifestyles
  • Encouraging sports tourism
  • Creating events that bring together communities
  • Supporting the local economy through tourism and hospitality
  • Making Dubai a global fitness capital
  • By hosting top-level events that welcome both professionals and the general public, Dubai is showing the world how sports can bring people together.
