Dubai Humanitarian, recognized as the world’s largest humanitarian logistics hub, has released a new documentary titled ‘Coming Together: The Dubai Humanitarian Story’. The film provides an inside look at one of the world’s most important humanitarian response facilities, highlighting how Dubai coordinates life-saving aid around the globe.

The documentary emphasizes Dubai Humanitarian’s ability to respond quickly to disasters and crises. From severe floods in Pakistan to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the hub has consistently delivered critical supplies such as vaccines, health kits, clean water, and shelter materials to those in urgent need. The film offers viewers a detailed perspective on the operations, showing how efficiency and collaboration can save countless lives.

A Hub That Brings the World Together

A central theme of the documentary is the collaborative nature of Dubai Humanitarian. The hub works closely with United Nations agencies, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and government partners to coordinate aid delivery in real time. The documentary emphasizes how this partnership ensures that aid operations are swift, efficient, and scalable, reaching the right people at the right time.

The scale of operations at Dubai Humanitarian is impressive. The facility spans 150,000 square meters of warehouses, generously donated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This massive space allows for the storage and rapid dispatch of life-saving supplies to countries affected by crises within hours.

Key Partnerships in Action

The documentary highlights the essential role of Dubai Humanitarian’s partners. Organizations such as the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) contribute expertise in aid delivery, ensuring that humanitarian supplies reach affected communities quickly. Local partners like Dubai Customs and Emirates Airline play an equally vital role, providing logistical support and airlift capacity.

The combined knowledge and resources of these partners help overcome some of the world’s most complex humanitarian challenges. The film showcases how customs clearance, cargo handling, and transportation are coordinated efficiently to deliver aid to those in need. The dedication of aid workers, airline crews, and customs officials is portrayed as a crucial human element behind these large-scale operations, showing that real people are working tirelessly to deliver hope.

Leadership Perspective

Giuseppe Saba, CEO of Dubai Humanitarian, emphasized the significance of the hub: “Dubai Humanitarian is more than a logistics hub - it’s a global lifeline. This film shows what’s possible when the world comes together, and when the UAE leads with purpose.”

Saba also highlighted the hub’s impact in 2025: “Working alongside our UN partners and other relief organizations, Dubai Humanitarian delivered aid worth over AED179.2 million to 81 countries in just the first half of the year. The need for shelter and health aid remains particularly high. We remain committed to standing with the international humanitarian community to protect the most vulnerable.”

Sajeda Shawa, Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) UAE, also shared her perspective: “Humanitarian aid must be delivered without discrimination and in full equality. Being the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves is not just a responsibility; it is an honor and a lifelong calling.”

Advanced Technology for Aid Delivery

A unique feature of Dubai Humanitarian is its AI-powered Humanitarian Logistics Databank. This advanced system helps monitor stock levels, forecast demand, and provide real-time analytics. It allows aid agencies to anticipate needs, prevent price spikes, and prepare for seasonal surges, such as the high demand for shelter during monsoon seasons in countries like Bangladesh.

The strategic location of Dubai Humanitarian, just ten minutes from Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport, ensures that humanitarian cargo can reach two-thirds of the world’s hazard-prone population within four to eight hours. With plans to expand the logistics databank to 11 hubs worldwide, the system will increasingly source aid locally, reducing carbon emissions while speeding up delivery.

Aid Statistics and Key Figures

Between January and June 2025, Dubai Humanitarian distributed aid valued at USD 48.8 million to 81 countries globally. The support covered various needs:

  • Health-related support: Nearly USD 14 million, including medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and essential health items.

  • Water and sanitation: Approximately USD 1 million, supplying items like containers, buckets, and jerry cans.

  • Shelter needs: Close to USD 15 million, including over 937,000 camping and field equipment items, such as tents and winterization kits.

By mid-2025, the total stock value at Dubai Humanitarian was USD 208.1 million. One of the major achievements during this period was the 25th Dubai Humanitarian airlift to Gaza in April. This operation delivered 56.8 metric tonnes of critical medical supplies worth over USD 1 million (AED 4.3 million) provided by the World Health Organization, landing at El Arish Airport in Egypt.

Human Stories Behind the Operations

While the documentary highlights impressive statistics and logistical achievements, it also focuses on the human stories behind the aid. Viewers see the dedication of customs officials, aid workers, and airline staff who work day and night to ensure supplies reach those in need. Their commitment to saving lives and alleviating suffering forms the heart of Dubai Humanitarian’s mission.

The Documentary Premiere

The documentary premiered on World Humanitarian Day, 19 August 2025, underscoring the importance of global humanitarian efforts. It is now available to watch on the Dubai Humanitarian YouTube channel. The film allows the public to gain a better understanding of how Dubai’s humanitarian hub operates and the scale of its global impact.

Dubai Humanitarian continues to set a benchmark for global humanitarian response. By combining strategic location, advanced technology, and strong partnerships with international organizations, it ensures rapid and efficient delivery of aid. The documentary ‘Coming Together: The Dubai Humanitarian Story’ captures this effort in a compelling way, showing how the UAE and its partners are committed to helping the most vulnerable people across the world.

Through the dedication of its staff, advanced logistical systems, and collaboration with global agencies, Dubai Humanitarian proves that coordinated action can make a life-saving difference in times of crisis. The film not only celebrates these achievements but also serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of humanitarian collaboration and the importance of standing together for those in need.
