During a special event called ‘Meet the CEO’, Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), shared his ideas to make Dubai’s healthcare system better, smarter, and more caring for everyone.
A New Way to Work Together in Hospitals
Dr. Sharif explained how Dubai Health now uses a system called the Integrated Physician Practice model. This model helps doctors and nurses work the same way in all hospitals. It makes patient care safer, cuts down waiting time, and improves treatment quality.

A Strong Focus on Science and Education
Dr. Sharif proudly shared that 10% of MBRU's teachers were listed among the world’s top 2% scientists by Stanford University in 2024. MBRU has published 1,811 research papers, and 84% of them were in top medical journals.
A Healthcare System That Puts People First
Dubai’s healthcare system is growing with a people-first vision. Dr. Sharif gave credit to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed for their strong leadership in shaping the health sector.
The ‘Meet the CEO’ event was hosted by the Government of Dubai Media Office, and many top media leaders attended, including Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri.
How It All Started and Where It’s Going
Dr. Sharif told the story of Dubai’s healthcare journey, starting from the 1940s. A big step was taken in 2021 with Law No. 13, which created Dubai’s first academic health system. Today, all hospitals under Dubai Health follow the same high standards for safety and care.
Dubai Health's New Identity
Dr. Sharif also introduced the new look and vision of Dubai Health. The logo features arches that show Dubai’s heritage and values. The center arch stands for Care, while the two side arches stand for Learning and Discovery. All of this is supported by Giving, which means helping people through kindness.
Involving the Community
Dubai Health wants to work with the community. Dr. Sharif mentioned programs like ‘Dubai Health Majalis: Voice of the Community’ and the Press Ganey Programme. These programs help doctors understand what patients need at every step of their healthcare journey.
These efforts are part of the ‘Year of Community 2025’, which focuses on listening to people and improving their lives.
Big Projects to Help More People
Dubai Health is building amazing projects like the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, which will offer early cancer detection, strong treatment options, and care based on patient feedback. This project even won a global WAN Gold Award.
Also, five research centers are being created—three are already open. A special Diabetes Centre is also on the way to give patients personal and future-focused care.
Using AI and Technology to Save Lives
Dubai Health is using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in smart ways to make healthcare better. They’ve started 37 AI projects that focus on things like making patient care faster, helping doctors find problems sooner, and making it easier to get care. These plans are part of the Dubai AI Strategy for Health 2025–2028.
Academic Success at MBRU
MBRU, which leads learning and research under Dubai Health, was ranked Group 1 in the National Education Rankings. It also got three major grants from the Dubai Future Foundation’s RDI Programme.
Dr. Sharif said that more media attention is needed to show how much good work MBRU is doing in science and research.
Working with Global Partners
Dubai Health is joining hands with some of the world’s best health organizations:
Al Jalila Children’s Hospital works with Children’s National Hospital (USA) for better child cancer care.
They also signed deals with Royal Marsden Hospital (UK) and UMass Chan Medical School (USA) for research and training.
In 2024, Dubai Health and the University of Oxford launched the Dubai Health Leadership Academy to train future health leaders.
A special partnership with Emirates Group helps improve patient care by using hospitality industry ideas.
Giving Back to the Community
The Al Jalila Foundation, which is part of Dubai Health, raised AED 177.65 million in 2024 to support health projects. It also gave 13 scholarships to students and signed new agreements with local charities.
Helping Patients from Start to Finish
Dr. Sharif talked about the Health Operations Centre, which makes sure that every patient’s journey—from check-in to recovery—is smooth and safe. The team redesigned 45 patient care pathways, covering 68% of patient needs, including emergency and special care.
Impressive Growth in Services
Dubai Health has shown big improvements between 202.
