In a significant move to uplift regional businesses, the Government of Canada has unveiled a new financial initiative aimed at assisting Yarmouth firms in modernizing operations, enhancing productivity, and exploring new market opportunities. Announced on April 8, 2026, this funding initiative seeks to bolster supply chains and foster economic growth amid evolving global conditions.
Over $1.2 million has been earmarked through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative, as shared by Chris d’Entremont on behalf of Sean Fraser, who heads the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.
Two local enterprises will benefit from this funding, enabling them to upgrade their operations and expand their business horizons. Novatec Braids Ltd. will secure $900,000 to invest in advanced machinery, augment manufacturing capacities, and improve the overall quality and effectiveness of its products. The company also intends to enhance its marketing strategies for entry into new markets and to expand its client base.
Simultaneously, Tri-Star Industries Ltd. will receive $375,000 to innovate its facility by adopting new machinery and digital solutions. These enhancements are anticipated to streamline processes, lower operational costs, and boost competitiveness in the local market.
Officials stated that these investments are essential for enabling businesses to navigate global economic shifts through the adoption of modern technologies and effective supply chain management. By enhancing productivity and increasing market presence, these companies are poised to unlock new growth avenues and generate local employment.
Government representatives emphasized that strengthening local industries is crucial for upholding Canada’s standing in the global marketplace. They underscored that initiatives like the Regional Tariff Response Initiative equip businesses with the necessary tools to innovate and adapt during challenging economic climates.
This announcement is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at fortifying regional economies throughout Atlantic Canada. By investing in innovation, infrastructure, and business growth, the government aspires to ensure that companies not only endure but excel in a competitive global environment.
