Dubai is making strong progress in building a caring and happy society. Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority (CDA), spoke with top editors and media leaders at a special event hosted by the Government of Dubai Media Office.
She shared Dubai’s goals for making life better for people and families. Her message was clear: People come first. Dubai’s leaders believe that if people are happy and strong, the city will grow in the right way.
This idea comes from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Their belief is that building a strong society starts with caring for every person in the community.
Her Excellency said that the CDA is working hard to bring new ideas and services to the people. These services cover health, housing, education, culture, sports, and community support. The goal is to match people’s real needs and make life better in every part of Dubai.
She explained that the CDA listens to people and studies what they need most. This helps them plan smart services. The CDA also uses new technology to give faster and easier access to support. The aim is to build a strong and united society that is ready for the future.
Her Excellency said:
“We don’t just give help. We give power to people to take part in building Dubai’s future.”
Her Excellency thanked the media for sharing the CDA’s message with the public. She said that newspapers, TV, and social media are very important partners. They help spread the word about important programmes and encourage people to join in.
She said:
“The media is a bridge between the CDA and the people. Together, we can build a strong and caring society.”
The CDA is running many successful programmes that touch lives directly. Here are some of them:
This program helps Emirati couples get married. It also gives help to families with newborn babies. In 2025, 27.7% of all marriages in Dubai were part of this program. Bookings for wedding halls are also growing, showing more young people are choosing family life.
After marriage, families get extra help like financial advice, housing support, and family counselling. This helps them stay strong and happy.
The CDA has set up 13 community meeting places called Majalis. Here, people talk about what they need and share ideas. The CDA plans to have 17 Majalis by the end of the year. This helps services reach families in their own neighborhoods.
In 2024, over 59,000 people gave time to help others. They gave more than 1 million hours of work. These efforts were worth AED 40 million. The CDA believes that volunteering shows the true heart of Dubai.
When a family loses a loved one, the CDA offers quick help. In the first half of 2025, the CDA set up 239 condolence tents within 5 hours of request. This was done with help from Dubai Police, DEWA, Civil Defense, and RTA.
The CDA is also helping Emiratis get jobs or start small businesses.
This program helps people find jobs, learn new skills, and start small businesses. In 2024, 1,078 people were supported, and 538 more in early 2025. Over 130 partners helped, and 125 home businesses were supported through events and digital platforms.
During Ramadan, Emirati families made and shared over 14,400 iftar meals worth AED 288,000, showing the spirit of giving and care.
This program teaches families about money and planning for the future. The CDA works with banks and government partners to help hundreds of families in 2025.
Her Excellency said the CDA is always planning for tomorrow. They listen to what people say and try to match their services to real needs. With data, smart tools, and strong partnerships, they are building a better future for Dubai’s people.
She thanked the Government of Dubai Media Office for hosting the “Meet the CEO” event. She said such talks help build trust, open communication, and bring government and media together to help society grow.
Dubai’s Community Development Authority, under the leadership of Her Excellency Hessa Buhumaid, is working with great care and heart. From marriages to mourning, from volunteering to business, every step is about helping people live better lives.
This is the Dubai way: smart, caring, and always thinking ahead.
