Dubai Airports, in partnership with Mawaheb, a Dubai-based art studio supporting People of Determination, has unveiled a new art exhibition at Dubai International Airport (DXB). The exhibition showcases 12 stunning canvases created by talented artists, celebrating creativity, inclusivity, and the unique stories of each individual. This initiative not only highlights the skills of these artists but also strengthens Dubai Airports’ long-term commitment to social inclusion.
Exhibition at Terminal 1
The exhibition is located in Terminal 1, one of the busiest terminals in DXB, welcoming millions of travellers from around the globe every year. Visitors to the terminal now have the opportunity to view the diverse collection of artworks and experience the creativity of People of Determination first-hand. Each painting tells a personal story, offering insight into the artists’ perspectives, emotions, and experiences.

This display also aligns with the UAE’s “Year of Community,” emphasizing unity, inclusiveness, and opportunities for everyone to contribute to society. By hosting this exhibition, Dubai Airports is creating a warm, welcoming, and inspiring environment for travellers while celebrating the talents of People of Determination.
A Statement from Dubai Airports CEO
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports and a Mawaheb Ambassador, shared his thoughts on the exhibition. He said, “The artwork on display challenges perceptions, shifts mindsets, and leaves a lasting impression on the millions of travellers who pass through our airport. It’s a powerful reminder that every individual has a unique story to tell, and a voice that deserves to be heard.”
Griffiths’ words reflect the airport’s dedication to making DXB not just a hub for travel but also a platform for creativity, expression, and social inclusion. The exhibition is a step toward encouraging visitors to appreciate the diversity and talent of People of Determination.
Mawaheb’s Contribution
Wemmy de Maaker, Founder and Managing Director of Mawaheb, spoke about the importance of this exhibition. She said, “This exhibition is a testament to the incredible talent and spirit of our artists. We are so grateful to Dubai Airports for providing such a phenomenal platform for their work. Seeing their art displayed in one of the world's busiest international airports not only gives them a voice but also inspires a sense of possibility in everyone who sees it.”
Mawaheb, which means “talents” in Arabic, has been nurturing the artistic abilities of People of Determination since its founding. The studio encourages artists to explore their creativity and express themselves freely through various art forms. Collaborating with Dubai Airports allows these artists to reach a global audience and gain recognition for their work.
A Long-Standing Partnership
The partnership between Dubai Airports and Mawaheb began in 2017 and has grown stronger over the years. Both organizations share a vision of inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that People of Determination are given opportunities to showcase their talents.
Earlier this year, Paul Griffiths was appointed a Mawaheb Ambassador, reinforcing the airport’s commitment to supporting this initiative. Griffiths praised the artists for their “raw expression” and “fearless use of colour,” noting that the exhibition reflects both the skill and the emotional depth of each creator.
Highlights of the Exhibition
The exhibition features a vibrant mix of artistic styles, including abstract, figurative, surrealist, and pop-art pieces. Each artwork presents a different story and perspective, united by the shared theme of creativity. Some notable pieces include:
“Shapes of My Mind” by Kieran Carter – a colourful abstract work that explores the complexity of thought.
“Fluttuante” by Reikha Kaplani – a flowing, dreamlike painting inspired by movement and emotion.
“Prezioso” by Marwan Al Khaja – a gold-leafed creation that shines with luxury and imagination.
“Leila’s Lillies” by Leila Murgian – a delicate and expressive floral artwork.
“Elegance” by Saad – capturing beauty through simple yet sophisticated lines and shapes.
Picasso-inspired pieces by Faran Imitiaz and Namrata Pagarani – reflecting bold experimentation with form and colour.
“Punk 2” by Richard Gillam – a rebellious and energetic pop-art piece.
“The Light Inside Me” by Zaid Jafar – a powerful expression of inner strength and hope.
“Behind the Wall” by Sean McLennon – exploring hidden emotions and unseen stories.
“1000 Shades” by Nitin Bablani – a dazzling display of colour, movement, and imagination.
Each artwork is unique, yet all share a common purpose: to give viewers a glimpse into the minds and hearts of the artists while demonstrating the incredible potential of People of Determination.
Promoting Inclusion and Creativity
The exhibition is more than just a display of paintings. It represents a strong commitment to inclusion, showing that people of all abilities have valuable perspectives to share. By placing these artworks in a high-traffic area like DXB Terminal 1, Dubai Airports ensures that visitors from all over the world can appreciate, learn from, and be inspired by the artists.
The collaboration between Dubai Airports and Mawaheb also highlights the importance of providing opportunities for People of Determination to thrive in creative fields. Art becomes a medium not only for self-expression but also for education, awareness, and social impact.
Travellers’ Experience
Visitors walking through Terminal 1 can stop and engage with the exhibition at their own pace. Each canvas is accompanied by information about the artist and the story behind the piece, allowing viewers to connect with the work on a personal level. Many travellers have expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting that it adds warmth and meaning to their airport experience.
For the artists, seeing their work displayed in such a prominent space is a life-changing experience. It gives them recognition, boosts confidence, and provides a sense of purpose. For the community at large, it reinforces the idea that talent exists in every individual, regardless of abilities or challenges.
A Message of Hope
Both Dubai Airports and Mawaheb emphasize that this exhibition is about more than art—it’s about empowerment, inclusion, and shared humanity. The initiative serves as a reminder that creativity has no limits and that everyone deserves the opportunity to shine.
Paul Griffiths summed it up by saying, “Every individual has a unique story to tell, and a voice that deserves to be heard.” This message resonates not just within the walls of the airport but across society, encouraging everyone to embrace diversity and celebrate human potential.
Dubai Airports’ collaboration with Mawaheb is a shining example of how art and inclusion can come together to create meaningful experiences. The exhibition at DXB Terminal 1 offers travellers a chance to witness the extraordinary talents of People of Determination while fostering awareness, appreciation, and empathy.
Through initiatives like this, Dubai Airports continues to show that airports can be more than transit points—they can be platforms for inspiration, creativity, and social change. For the artists, this opportunity is a milestone in their journey, proving that their voices, stories, and talents matter on a global stage.
This exhibition is expected to remain a highlight at DXB, inspiring travellers and reinforcing Dubai’s commitment to inclusivity, creativity, and community engagement.
