Ranveer Singh's global fan community has a reason to rejoice. Following his notable performances in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani and a guest role in Singham Again, he is back on the big screen with the eagerly anticipated thriller Dhurandhar. This film, which is penned, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, showcases a formidable cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Notably, it's Ranveer's first partnership with Aditya Dhar.
Dhurandhar takes cues from real-world geopolitical conflicts and the covert operations conducted by RAW, particularly spotlighting Operation Lyari, which focuses on major gang network crackdowns in Karachi's Lyari region. With its gripping narrative, enthralling soundtrack, and grand production scale, this film is among the most discussed releases of 2023. Additionally, it stands as one of the longest features in Indian cinematic history.
Before its international rollout, critic Umari Sandhu shared his thoughts on Twitter, rating the film four stars. He lauded its compelling screenplay, action-filled sequences, and production quality, specifically noting the accurate representation of Karachi’s Lyari. Singh's portrayal was highlighted, along with commendations for Sanjay Dutt and Akshaye Khanna for their powerful performances. Sandhu indicated that the film's climactic final thirty minutes deliver a breathtaking twist and asserted that Bollywood is regaining its historical brilliance.
During a press event, Ranveer Singh expressed high regard for debutant Sara Arjun, terming her a “child prodigy” and likening her to Dakota Fanning. He praised her diverse skill set, confidence, and innate talent, indicating that her performance notably enhances his own on-screen presence. Singh conveyed his pride in acting alongside her and predicted that audiences would soon recognize her exceptional capabilities.
