The Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai has teamed up with the University of Birmingham to start a new training program for social workers in Dubai. This program is designed to improve social services and help people in the community. It also supports Dubai’s Social Agenda 33, which aims to improve the quality of life for everyone.
The launch event for the program was attended by important people, including His Excellency Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of The Executive Council of Dubai, Abdulrazaq Ameri, CEO of the Irada Center for Rehab and Treatment, and Sheikha Al Mansouri, Acting Director-General of the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children. The new training program will provide social workers with special courses to improve their skills. These courses will help them learn the best practices used in social work worldwide so they can give better help to the community.
The program also helps strengthen government services in Dubai and supports the city's plans for future growth. By training social workers, the CDA wants to make sure people in the community get high-quality services. The goal is to improve the well-being of people by making sure social workers have the skills they need to help everyone.

Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, the Director General of the CDA, said this program is part of a bigger plan to improve community services in Dubai. She said that training workers in social services is very important because it helps improve life for people in Dubai. "The program will prepare social workers to handle future challenges and help make Dubai a better place for everyone," she explained.
The program will begin by looking at what skills social workers in Dubai need. It will check the rules in Dubai and compare them with international standards. Based on this review, the program will focus on important areas like child protection, helping the elderly, and managing social cases. The goal is to make sure social workers are trained to meet the needs of people in Dubai.
The first part of the program will be a workshop for 121 professionals, including social workers and counselors from different government departments. In this workshop, they will learn about the program and its goals.
Dr. Anthony Murphy from the University of Birmingham shared how happy he is to be part of this project. He said, “We are very excited to work with the Dubai Community Development Authority on this important program. It is an honor to share our knowledge and experience. We believe this will be the beginning of a great partnership.”
This program is part of Dubai’s ongoing work to improve social services. It shows that Dubai is serious about building a strong workforce to help people. The University of Birmingham is supporting this effort by sharing their knowledge and experience to train social workers who will make a real difference in the community. The goal is to make social services better and help everyone in Dubai live a better life.
