The Dubai International Chamber, part of the three chambers under Dubai Chambers, recently concluded a successful trade mission to Tanzania. The mission ended with the signing of an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s capital. This mission was aimed at strengthening ties between businesses in Dubai and Tanzania. It also facilitated 408 business meetings between companies from both regions to explore new trade and investment opportunities.
The MoU was signed between Dubai Chambers and the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture. This agreement focuses on improving cooperation and promoting the flow of trade and investments between the two regions. It includes plans to organize trade missions, conferences, and business events. Additionally, the two parties agreed to share expertise, exchange information, and work together on business policies and investment opportunities.

As part of the trade mission, the chamber hosted a business forum in Dar es Salaam titled “Doing Business with Tanzania.” This event was supported by several organizations, including the UAE Embassy in Dar es Salaam, the Tanzanian Embassy in the UAE, and Tanzanian business organizations like the Tanzania Investment Centre and the Confederation of Tanzanian Industries. The forum was a platform for discussions and networking, with speeches from notable figures such as H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers; H.E. Khalifa Abdulrahman Almarzooqi, UAE Ambassador to Tanzania; and Hon. Dr. Selemani Saidi Jafo, Tanzania’s Minister of Industry and Trade. A total of 461 participants, including senior officials, business leaders, and companies from Tanzania, attended the event to explore partnership opportunities.
H.E. Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah highlighted the significance of this mission, stating, “Dubai International Chamber’s trade mission to Tanzania reflects our strong commitment to enhancing economic and trade relations with promising African markets. This mission builds bridges of cooperation and opens doors to strategic partnerships that benefit both Dubai and Tanzania.”
Trade data from Dubai Customs showed that non-oil trade between Dubai and Tanzania grew by 9% in 2023, reaching AED 9.8 billion. Additionally, as of September 2024, 274 Tanzanian companies were registered as active members of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce. This growth highlights the strengthening economic relationship between the two regions.
During the forum, the Dubai International Chamber shared updates on Dubai’s economic landscape and its competitive advantages. Presentations were made to showcase opportunities in the Tanzanian market for Dubai companies. The chamber identified several key export sectors from Dubai to Tanzania, such as automotive parts, electric bikes, car tires, vehicle engines, cooking oils, textiles, and wheat. Meanwhile, the most promising sectors for investment in Tanzania include energy, mining, pharmaceuticals, real estate, agriculture, and manufacturing.
The trade mission included representatives from 32 private-sector companies in Dubai, spanning industries such as construction, food and beverages, oil and gas, healthcare, agritech, and information technology. This diversity highlights the wide-ranging interest of Dubai businesses in Tanzania’s growing economy.
The trade mission is seen as a significant step in boosting collaboration between Dubai and Tanzania, fostering economic growth, and creating mutually beneficial opportunities for businesses in both regions.
