A shocking incident took place on an Air India flight from Delhi to Bangkok today. A 24-year-old Indian man named Tushar Masand, who was traveling on flight AI 2336, reportedly urinated on a fellow passenger while the plane was in the air.

According to sources, Masand was sitting in seat 2D and had consumed two glasses of single malt whisky before the incident happened. He was said to be drunk when he got up and urinated on another passenger, who is a Japanese businessman and the managing director of a company. Another passenger sitting nearby also complained about being affected by the act.

Air India confirmed that there was an incident of “unruly behavior” on the flight, but did not clearly say what the behavior was. The airline, which is owned by the Tata Group, has temporarily banned Tushar Masand from flying with them for 30 days. A special independent committee will now review the case and decide if further action should be taken. Based on their findings, other airlines may also choose to ban Masand from flying.

The incident has been reported to the authorities. Air India said in a statement that their crew followed all the required steps during the flight. They also offered to help the affected passenger after landing in Bangkok, but the businessman declined the offer.

India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, said the government is aware of the matter. He said that officials would talk to the airline, and if any mistake is found, action will be taken.

Air India’s statement also said, “Our crew warned the passenger and offered help to the aggrieved person to take up the matter with the authorities in Bangkok. However, the person declined our help at that time. An independent committee will look into the incident and decide if any further action is needed. We are following all the rules set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).”

This is not the first time something like this has happened. In the past two years, there have been several cases of passengers urinating on others after drinking alcohol on flights. In March 2023, an Indian student named Arya Vohra, studying in the U.S., was banned by American Airlines for a similar act. In another incident in November 2024, a drunk man reportedly urinated on an elderly woman in the business class of an Air India flight.

Such incidents raise serious concerns about the behavior of passengers under the influence of alcohol and highlight the importance of strict rules during air travel.
