In a significant development for urban management, Vietnam's government has given the green light for the creation of Dong Nai city as a centrally governed entity. This approval marks a pivotal moment in the area’s administrative reform and urban development strategy, which includes establishing 10 additional wards within Dong Nai province for improved governance.
Formalized by a resolution on April 6, 2026, this initiative showcases the government's ambition to transition vital economic regions into more autonomous urban zones. With Dong Nai's robust industrial sector and its proximity to Ho Chi Minh City, this change is poised to provide substantial benefits.
Officials indicate that the proposal, originally put forth by the Ministry of Interior, has received full governmental endorsement. Aiming to enhance administrative effectiveness, the plan focuses on better infrastructure, resulting in a favorable climate for investment and economic development in the area.
The Ministry of Interior is tasked with spearheading this project, which will involve incorporating input from various governmental departments and preparing detailed documentation, such as draft resolutions, for the National Assembly's review and approval.
Moreover, the ministry will work in close collaboration with relevant organizations to ensure all legal protocols are followed. Authorities emphasize the necessity for accuracy, transparency, and prompt execution throughout this endeavor to facilitate a smooth rollout.
The government underscored that the Ministry of Interior will hold complete accountability for the proposal's content and quality, including necessary reports and documentation. Any challenges that arise outside its jurisdiction must be communicated immediately to the Prime Minister.
This establishment of Dong Nai as a centrally governed city fits into Vietnam’s larger ambition of modernizing urban systems, refining regional planning, and strengthening key economic hubs. If realized, this initiative is anticipated to enhance connectivity, draw investments, and elevate the overall quality of life for residents.
