Vietnam Celebrates Excellence in Cooperatives with Star Awards

On April 10, 2026, Hanoi hosted a significant event recognizing the achievements of outstanding cooperatives, with Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung in attendance to present the prestigious Cooperative Star Award and the Mai An Tiem Award.

This ceremony honored the 80th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh’s call for agricultural cooperatives, an initiative that has greatly contributed to Vietnam’s development over the decades.

High-ranking officials and representatives from various organizations attended, underscoring the cooperative sector's vital role in the national economy. A total of 100 cooperatives were acknowledged for their significant impact, innovation, and economic contributions.

During the event, speakers emphasized how cooperatives have progressed from local rural entities to important economic players. Currently, Vietnam boasts over 34,880 cooperatives with close to 5.7 million members, playing a crucial role in employment and income generation.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung highlighted the collective sector’s accomplishments, noting that cooperatives are stepping up as key innovators driving digital transformation and sustainable growth. He urged them to incorporate modern technologies to enhance their competitiveness on a global scale.

The government reasserted its commitment to advocate for green and circular economic practices, improve product quality, and strengthen value chains between cooperatives and various businesses to bolster their presence in domestic and international markets.

Moving forward, authorities pledged to enhance support for cooperatives through effective policies and legal frameworks, while the Deputy Prime Minister encouraged all stakeholders to promote self-reliance, innovation, and collaboration for sustainable growth in the cooperative sector in the years to come.
