This year’s festival will offer many fun activities for people of all ages. The goal is to encourage people to read more, help them connect with Emirati traditions, and discover new talent. The event also celebrates those who have made important contributions to culture, knowledge, and the arts. It will also help raise the profile of Al Ain, which has been named the Capital of Gulf Tourism for 2025.
At the festival, visitors will have the chance to buy new books on many subjects from publishers. This year, the number of publishers taking part has increased by 89% compared to last year, showing how much the event has grown.
The “Poetry Nights: The Sung Poetry” program will honor the late Sheikh Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan. The program will focus on his poetry, his efforts to preserve Emirati traditions, and his support for writers. He played a big role in past editions of the festival.
His Excellency Saeed Hamdan Al Tunaiji, Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, said: “The Al Ain Book Festival is an important event that celebrates authors and publishers and helps inspire future generations to learn about the culture and history of the UAE. It has become an important part of Al Ain’s calendar, a city with a rich history. The festival helps Al Ain become a key location for Gulf Tourism in 2025.”
H.E. Al Tunaiji also said, “This year, we have new activities and programs. The festival is an event that families from Al Ain and other areas look forward to each year. There is something for everyone. For the third year in a row, the festival will celebrate folk poetry with the ‘Poetry Nights: The Sung Poetry’ program at Al Jahili Fort. This is part of our mission to keep Emirati heritage alive.”
For the third year, the festival will focus on folk poetry. It will honor famous poets who passed away this year and highlight efforts to protect and preserve folk poetry in the UAE.
This year, the festival also focuses on young people. It will show their artistic and cultural talents. Children, teenagers, and young adults will have a chance to show their skills, and some will even help organize and run parts of the festival.
The Al Ain Book Festival is not just about books; it’s also about culture, fun, and bringing the community together. People can enjoy cultural performances and see the beauty of Al Ain. The festival continues to grow and is an important event for bringing the community together, showing off Emirati culture and traditions, and making Al Ain a cultural center in the region.
