Uganda created one of the most memorable moments at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 by defeating France 1-0 in their final Group K match held in Doha on Tuesday. The win was a major achievement for the young Ugandan side, who displayed impressive discipline and determination throughout the match.

Despite the loss, France had done enough earlier in the tournament to remain on top of the group based on goal difference. The result also marked Uganda’s first win in the competition, a performance that will be remembered as a landmark moment in their youth football history.

The final day of Group K fixtures turned out to be full of drama as Uganda, France, Canada, and Chile all ended the group stage with four points each. Uganda’s win over France and Chile’s 2-1 victory over Canada meant that all teams were tied in the standings, making goal difference the deciding factor.

France, with the best goal difference, topped the group, followed by Canada in second place. Uganda finished third but still advanced to the Round of 32, while Chile was eliminated despite their win over Canada.

This rare scenario showcased the competitiveness of the group, where every team managed at least one win and displayed promising young talent.

With the group stage now complete, France, Canada, and Uganda have secured their places in the Round of 32. France progressed as group leaders, showing consistency in their first two games. Canada, though defeated by Chile, advanced thanks to their earlier strong performances.

Uganda’s qualification marks an important milestone for African football at youth level. Their spirited play and tactical discipline have earned them recognition and new respect on the global stage.

In Group J, Ireland qualified for the next round after a goalless draw with Paraguay, bringing their total to seven points. The result ensured that Ireland finished top of their group, displaying solid defense and teamwork across all matches.

Paraguay, despite earning four points, finished third in the group and narrowly missed automatic qualification. However, they still have a chance of progressing depending on other results in the tournament.

The second qualifier from Group J was Uzbekistan, who delivered a commanding 6-1 victory over Panama. The win brought Uzbekistan’s total to six points, ensuring their safe passage into the Round of 32.

Panama, who failed to earn any points in the group stage, exited the tournament. Uzbekistan’s dominant performance highlighted their attacking power and confidence, setting them up as potential dark horses in the knockout rounds.

Over in Group 9, the United States continued their impressive form with a 2-0 win over the Czech Republic, finishing the group with a perfect nine points. The American team has looked sharp throughout the tournament, balancing strong defense with creative attacking play.

The Czech Republic, with three points, finished third but did not qualify for the next stage. The defeat marked the end of their campaign after a mixed set of performances.

Joining the United States from Group 9 is Burkina Faso, who sealed their spot in the Round of 32 after a 2-0 victory over Tajikistan. The African side finished with six points and showed remarkable improvement after their opening game defeat.

Tajikistan, meanwhile, ended their campaign without any points and struggled to make an impact in one of the tournament’s most competitive groups.

With the group stage now concluded, the Round of 32 is shaping up to deliver exciting clashes. Teams like France, Ireland, the United States, and Uzbekistan have looked strong, while underdogs such as Uganda and Burkina Faso are ready to surprise bigger names.

The knockout rounds of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 promise intense competition as young stars from around the world continue to showcase their skills, passion, and future potential.
