The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has officially opened applications for the third cohort of the Dubai Distinguished Students Programme for the 2026–27 academic year.

Launched in 2024 in collaboration with the Knowledge Fund Establishment and private schools in Dubai, this initiative provides high-achieving Emirati students from Grade 1 (Year 2) to Grade 10 (Year 11) with a 50% tuition fee scholarship at schools rated Good or higher.

Scholarships and Participating Schools

This year, a total of 333 scholarships will be offered across 19 private schools in Dubai. These schools provide a variety of curricula, including UK, US, IB, and dual curricula, ensuring students have access to diverse learning pathways aligned with their academic and career aspirations.

Application Process

Parents of eligible Emirati students can apply from 31 March to 14 April 2026 through the KHDA website. Students must be UAE nationals, hold an Emirati family book, and be enrolled in a public or private school within the UAE or abroad.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • Minimum 90% in US or UAE Ministry of Education curricula

  • Minimum 5 in the IB programme

  • Minimum Grade B in UK curriculum

  • Successful completion of school assessments and interviews

Some participating schools, such as those under Innoventures Education Group and Emirates International School, may also accept students already enrolled in their institutions.

Leadership Statements

Her Excellency Aisha Miran, Director General of KHDA, said:
"The Dubai Distinguished Students Programme empowers outstanding Emirati students to access world-class education, develop skills, and contribute to the UAE’s sustainable growth."

His Excellency Abdulla Mohammed Al Awar, CEO of the Knowledge Fund Establishment, emphasized:
"This initiative strengthens national human capital and prepares students for leadership roles, supporting Dubai’s vision for a knowledge-based economy."

Private Sector Collaboration

CEOs of participating private education groups highlighted the programme’s role in expanding access to high-quality education:

  • Alan Williamson, CEO of Taaleem: "The programme nurtures academic excellence and ensures talented Emirati students have equal opportunities regardless of financial circumstances."

  • Dino Varkey, CEO of GEMS Education: "We are proud to support KHDA and the Knowledge Fund in developing globally minded Emirati leaders."

  • Poonam Bhojani, CEO of Innoventures Education: "This partnership strengthens public-private collaboration and inspires students to achieve their full potential."

Programme Impact

Now in its third year, the Dubai Distinguished Students Programme aligns with Dubai Economic Agenda D33, Dubai Social Agenda 33, and the Education 33 Strategy, promoting access to quality education while reinforcing Emirati culture, values, and the Arabic language.
