Abu Dhabi: Creative Lab, the youth talent development arm of Abu Dhabi’s Creative Media Authority (CMA), successfully conducted a series of online creative media workshops during the spring break, targeting students aged 9 to 12.
The initiative brought together 38 participants from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra, offering them an engaging introduction to storytelling, scriptwriting, and digital content creation. Designed to nurture creativity, confidence, and self-expression, the workshops combined interactive learning with practical activities.
Conducted in both Arabic and English, the sessions focused on building foundational storytelling skills. Students explored creative ideas through writing, drawing, and group discussions, encouraging active participation and imagination.
The first workshop, held in collaboration with Majid TV—part of the Abu Dhabi Media Network—centered on scriptwriting and narrative development. Participants learned key storytelling elements such as character creation, plot structure, and story development. Each student created and presented their own story, enhancing both creative expression and public speaking skills.
The second session, delivered in partnership with Animotion Media Group, introduced students to storytelling for YouTube and digital platforms. Participants developed illustrations and character concepts while learning how to produce engaging and responsible online content.
A major highlight of the programme was its emphasis on the safe and responsible use of digital tools, aligning with the theme of this year’s Emirati Children’s Day. The workshops also coincided with the UAE’s Month of Reading, reinforcing the importance of reading and creative writing among young learners.
During the sessions, students showcased their creativity by writing stories, poems, and messages addressed to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reflecting their admiration for the UAE’s leadership.
Aysha Al Jneibi, Director of Talent Development at Creative Media Authority Abu Dhabi, emphasized the importance of early exposure to creative media. She noted that such initiatives help young individuals discover storytelling as a powerful tool while fostering confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking.
The programme also benefited from strong industry collaboration. Experts including Valeria Korotina from Animotion Media Group and Manal Al Falouji from Majid Channel guided participants with professional insights into storytelling and media production.
Parents praised the initiative for its positive impact. Many highlighted how the workshops encouraged children to develop writing skills and confidently present their ideas. Students also expressed enthusiasm, noting improvements in storytelling abilities and public speaking confidence.
By hosting the workshops online, Creative Lab ensured accessibility for participants across the emirate, expanding opportunities for creative education. The initiative also identified promising young talents in areas such as storytelling, voice-over, and communication.
This spring programme builds on Creative Lab’s ongoing efforts, including summer and winter media camps, and marks a successful step toward expanding digital learning opportunities. It reflects a broader commitment to developing the next generation of storytellers and media professionals who will contribute to the UAE’s growing creative economy.
