The UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation has officially announced the plans for the national tent-pegging team as they prepare for the qualifiers for the 2026 Tent-Pegging World Cup. The qualifiers will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from 7th to 13th December, and the UAE team is already working hard to reach their best form before they travel.
According to the draw, the UAE team has been placed in Group 4. This group includes Bahrain, Egypt, Yemen, Australia, Libya, and Canada, making it one of the most competitive groups in the qualifiers. Each of these countries has strong experience in tent-pegging, and the UAE will need to perform at a high level to qualify. Even with these challenges, the team remains positive and confident.
The UAE team is currently in an intensive training camp in Abu Dhabi. The riders are taking part in several local competitions in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. These competitions help the riders test their skills, improve their accuracy, and become fully prepared for the upcoming qualifiers. The training camp also focuses on teamwork, concentration, and communication between the riders and their horses, which are all essential in tent-pegging.
The team will travel to Cairo at the beginning of next month. Once they arrive, they will complete all final arrangements ahead of the qualifiers. This includes testing the horses to make sure they are healthy and ready, reviewing the conditions of the competition arena, attending the technical meeting, and confirming all draw procedures. These steps help avoid any last-minute issues and ensure the team is fully organized before the competition begins.
Dr. Ghanem Mohammed Al Hajri, Secretary-General of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, expressed great confidence in the UAE team. He said that qualifying for the 2026 World Cup is one of the main goals for the federation, and he believes the riders have the skills, strength, and determination needed to succeed. He also praised the dedication of the riders and the support team who are working tirelessly to prepare for this important event.
Tent-pegging is a sport that requires accuracy, speed, skill, and strong coordination between the rider and the horse. The UAE has a long history in equestrian sports and continues to support and develop its athletes. The team’s participation in the qualifiers is another step in showcasing the UAE’s talent on the international stage. If the team qualifies, they will advance to the 2026 World Cup, where the best tent-pegging teams from around the world will compete for the title.
The team’s journey reflects the UAE’s commitment to excellence in sports. Their drive to succeed and represent the UAE with pride shows the nation’s strong sports culture and support for national athletes. As the qualifiers approach, excitement continues to grow among fans, who hope to see the UAE team secure their place in the 2026 World Cup.
