Gonzaga began the game with tremendous energy, taking control right from the opening minutes. The team scored the first nine points and quickly showed that they were ready to dominate every part of the game. Their fast ball movement, strong rebounds, and confident shooting helped them build a comfortable early lead. By the time the game reached the halfway point of the first half, it was clear that Southern Utah was struggling to match Gonzaga’s pace and strength on both ends of the court.
Braden Huff was the standout performer for Gonzaga, scoring a career-best 22 points while shooting an impressive 11 of 13 from the field. His energy and accuracy gave Gonzaga the spark they needed to take full control of the game. Huff also collected six rebounds, showing his ability to contribute both offensively and defensively. His performance was simple, effective, and highly efficient, helping Gonzaga grow their lead with every minute.
While Huff led the scoring, Gonzaga received valuable contributions from several players. Davis Fogle added 19 points with confident shooting, while Mario Saint-Supery scored 16 points and recorded six steals, showcasing strong defensive instincts. Graham Ike and Adam Miller scored 13 points each, helping maintain the team’s dominant pace. Together, these players created an unstoppable combination that Southern Utah could not slow down.
By the end of the game, Gonzaga had achieved a 122-50 victory, marking a 72-point margin. This was the largest winning margin for Gonzaga against a Division I program in their history. The Bulldogs have had several big wins before, but this performance stood out because of the consistent scoring, strong defense, and overwhelming teamwork shown throughout the game. Southern Utah also recorded the worst loss in their program history, making the night even more memorable in the record books.
One of the main reasons for Gonzaga’s big win was their excellent shooting percentage. The team made 68.1% of their field goals and hit more than half of their three-point attempts. This strong accuracy created constant pressure on Southern Utah, who struggled to find ways to defend the Bulldogs. Gonzaga also finished with a strong rebounding advantage, which allowed them to turn missed shots into more scoring chances.
Southern Utah found it difficult to keep up with Gonzaga’s speed and energy. They shot just 29.5% from the field and made only four of their 25 three-point attempts. Their offense faced constant pressure from Gonzaga’s defense, leading to 23 turnovers. Elijah Duval was one of the few bright spots for the team, scoring 10 points, but his effort was not enough to stop Gonzaga’s momentum.
Gonzaga entered halftime with a 59-27 lead and continued their strong performance in the second half. They kept scoring with ease and pushed the margin higher with every possession. Late in the game, Mario Saint-Supery made a three-pointer to give Gonzaga a 70-point lead, and Joaquim ArauzMoore extended it further to 75 points. The Bulldogs played confidently until the final moments, never allowing Southern Utah to come back into the game.
This victory shows that Gonzaga is in strong form early in the season. Their teamwork, shooting accuracy, and defensive pressure all came together to create one of their best performances. As they move deeper into the season, this dominant win will give them confidence and momentum.
