The UAE President welcomed all the leaders and experts and asked them to work together to solve problems related to sustainability. He explained that this event is important because it gives people a chance to share ideas and find ways to create a better world for future generations.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also said that sustainability is a top priority for the UAE. The country is working hard to use its resources and technology to help the world grow in a way that is good for the environment and future generations.
He said that the UAE is focused on using new and advanced technology to improve energy systems, create more jobs, and help communities stay strong with clean energy. The President also emphasized that the UAE is dedicated to making sure there is enough energy for everyone, no matter where they live.
The opening ceremony featured the UAE national anthem and a short film explaining how technology and human knowledge are key to creating a sustainable future.
Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, the UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, gave the opening speech. He thanked the UAE leaders for their support in making ADSW a leading global event for sustainability. Dr. Al Jaber shared that the UAE has made great progress in renewable energy, including building the world’s largest solar power plant and advancing in wind and nuclear energy.
Dr. Al Jaber also talked about the UAE’s space missions and achievements in artificial intelligence. He mentioned the UAE’s plans for new space projects, including sending a mission to an asteroid and launching a satellite to study Earth.
He also praised the UAE’s leadership for helping the country reach these achievements. Dr. Al Jaber announced that the UAE is developing a new solar power facility that will produce clean energy 24 hours a day to solve one of the biggest challenges with renewable energy.
This year’s ADSW theme is "The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress." The event brings together leaders from governments, businesses, and other important groups to find ways to move the world toward a more sustainable economy.
