UAE Strengthens Global Climate Role at COP30 in Brazil

The UAE took center stage at the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, reinforcing its growing influence in global climate negotiations. Represented by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the UAE played a decisive role in discussions on the "Global Stocktake" and "Mitigation" tracks, driving international consensus and ambition.

Continuing a trajectory from COP28, the UAE’s delegation demonstrated a unified national strategy aimed at sustainable development and climate leadership. During COP30, the ministry actively contributed to the 19th workshop of the UNFCCC facilitative sharing of views (FSV), presenting the country’s biennial update report. Notably, the UAE remains the first nation in the Middle East and North Africa to submit such reports, setting a benchmark in transparent and accurate climate reporting.

The ministry’s engagement extended to high-level ministerial sessions, where it highlighted significant advancements in the UAE’s energy sector transformation. Key topics included streamlining energy and transport services, implementing hydrogen and clean energy policies, and enhancing energy efficiency—all supporting economic growth and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, while aligning with the “We the UAE 2031” vision. These initiatives reflect a comprehensive approach toward achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Through its active participation, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable progress, demonstrating a clear model for international cooperation in climate action while solidifying its reputation as a central player in shaping the global climate agenda.
