UAE and Finland Leaders Meet to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with President Alexander Stubb of Finland to discuss ways to strengthen relations between the two countries. The Finnish leader is on an official visit to the UAE. The meeting took place at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi, where His Highness welcomed President Stubb and wished Finland continued growth and prosperity.

The leaders discussed multiple areas of cooperation, focusing on shared development priorities such as the economy, trade, education, technology, and innovation. They also explored opportunities in the space sector and other advanced fields, aiming to support mutual growth and long-term partnership.

Both leaders shared their views on regional and international issues, emphasizing the importance of peace and stability. They reaffirmed their commitment to promoting global dialogue and diplomacy to address challenges affecting the wider international community.

His Highness highlighted the UAE’s interest in further strengthening relations with Finland. He expressed hope that this visit would create new opportunities for growth and prosperity, especially as the visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

The UAE President also mentioned that the launch of negotiations on a free trade agreement and a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the European Union represents a key step in boosting trade and economic cooperation with Finland. These agreements are expected to open new avenues for business, investment, and collaboration between both countries.

President Stubb thanked His Highness for the warm welcome and hospitality. He emphasized Finland’s interest in expanding economic and trade ties with the UAE. The Finnish leader said that both nations have made significant progress in strengthening their bilateral relationship and are committed to building a lasting partnership.

The meeting also focused on advancing joint initiatives that can bring benefits to the people of both countries. Both leaders underlined their shared ambition to support sustainable development, economic growth, and innovation while contributing positively to global stability.

The discussions were attended by senior UAE officials, including H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President; and other ministers and officials.

The meeting highlighted the strong and growing friendship between the UAE and Finland, emphasizing collaboration in key sectors and the commitment of both nations to explore opportunities for progress, prosperity, and stability.
