The UAE Jiu-Jitsu National Team delivered a remarkable performance at the World Championship in Bangkok, clinching three more medals as the nation celebrated Flag Day. The national anthem rang out twice during the medal ceremonies, highlighting the symbolic timing of the victories.
Omar Al Suwaidi captured gold in the men’s -56kg division after dominating four intense bouts. Shamma Al Kalbani made a triumphant return from injury to secure gold in the women’s -63kg category, showcasing resilience and determination. Theyab Al Nuaimi added a bronze in the men’s -56kg division, marking a solid contribution to the team’s overall medal haul.
With these latest results, the UAE delegation now holds six medals at the championship: three gold, one silver, and two bronze, strengthening its status among the world’s top Jiu-Jitsu nations. The tournament continues until 15th November, offering more opportunities for the UAE team to shine.
The athletes’ performances were a mix of strategic skill, rigorous preparation, and mental toughness. Omar Al Suwaidi emphasized the importance of focus and preparation, saying his victories reflect both personal effort and national pride. Shamma Al Kalbani noted that her comeback from injury made the win especially meaningful, serving as motivation to continue representing the UAE at the highest level.
These victories not only add to the UAE’s growing Jiu-Jitsu legacy but also highlight the country’s dedication to developing world-class athletes in martial arts, blending discipline, talent, and national spirit on the global stage.
