The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation has unveiled its latest endeavor, the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, aimed at elevating the standard of sporting excellence and bolstering the UAE's prominence on the global sports stage. This championship, set to unfold across five rounds throughout the 2024 season, will encompass various age categories spanning from kids to masters (aged 4 to 30+ years) and will be held in key locations across the UAE, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah.
The announcement of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship was made at a press conference held at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, with dignitaries and officials from various organizations present. Among those in attendance were His Excellency Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council; Mansour Al Ketbi, Deputy Chief Corporate and Human Capital Officer at Mubadala Investment Company; Bushra Abdullah Al Shehhi, Chief Human Resources Officer at Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and Chairman of Kawader; and Dr. Abdulraheem Ibrahim AlNuaimi, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Abu Dhabi Media Network.

Expressing gratitude to the UAE leadership for their unwavering support, His Excellency Abdulmunem Alhashmi underscored the championship's significance in bolstering the nation's sporting legacy. He emphasized that the tournament embodies the UAE's commitment to promoting jiu-jitsu within the community, fostering a competitive spirit, and nurturing emerging talents to uphold the country's sporting reputation.
Highlighting the UAE's rich history of organizing and hosting prestigious sporting events, His Excellency Alhashmi attributed the country's success in jiu-jitsu to steadfast leadership support and a thriving sports culture.
Echoing these sentiments, His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani praised the addition of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship to the UAE's roster of sporting events. He emphasized the Abu Dhabi Sports Council's steadfast support for the tournament, expressing confidence in the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation's ability to uphold the highest standards of excellence and creativity in organizing the championship.
The championship will feature a comprehensive format comprising both Gi (suits) and no-Gi (non-suits) categories across three and two rounds, respectively. Competitors will vie for medals, cash prizes, and the prestigious championship title, culminating in a grand finale in December. A robust ranking system has been devised to ensure fair competition and equal recognition for participants across various age groups and skill levels.
With a prize pool exceeding AED 1.5 million, the championship aims to incentivize participants to strive for excellence while fostering a culture of physical fitness and athletic achievement. Additionally, the tournament is expected to attract widespread participation and significant fan attendance, fostering a vibrant sports environment and promoting the values of sportsmanship, self-confidence, tolerance, and respect among participants and spectators alike.
