Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, met with Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, who is currently on an official visit to the UAE.
During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Ethiopia and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in key sectors. They explored opportunities to expand economic and investment partnerships and boost trade and tourism exchanges to support sustainable development in both countries.
The discussions also covered regional developments and their impact on security, stability and economic growth in the region and across the world. Both sides stressed the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation to address regional challenges.
Sheikh Mohammed thanked the Ethiopian Prime Minister for Ethiopia’s supportive stance toward the UAE. He also expressed his sincere condolences to the Ethiopian government and people over the victims of the recent floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in southern Ethiopia. He reaffirmed the UAE’s solidarity with Ethiopia during this difficult time.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed strongly condemned the Iranian attacks targeting the UAE and other countries in the region. He said such actions violate state sovereignty and international law. He also expressed Ethiopia’s solidarity with the UAE and its efforts to protect its security, territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of reducing tensions in the region and highlighted the need for diplomatic efforts to ease the current crisis and prevent further escalation.
The meeting was also attended by Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group; Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State; and Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation.
