The Trump government is planning to stop people from many countries from traveling to the United States. A government paper seen by Reuters and some people who know about this plan say that new travel rules may be coming soon. These rules could make it very hard, or even impossible, for people from certain countries to enter the US.

A US government worker, who did not want to share their name, said the list of countries is not final yet. The names could change, and the plan has not been fully accepted. Even the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has not given his full support.
The government paper puts 41 countries into three different groups.
Countries That May Be Banned Completely
People from these countries may not get any kind of visa to visit the US:
Afghanistan
Cuba
Iran
Libya
North Korea
Somalia
Sudan
Syria
Venezuela
Yemen
Countries That May Face Some Visa Restrictions
In these countries, people may still get some visas, but tourist and student visas may be blocked:
Eritrea
Haiti
Laos
Myanmar
South Sudan
Countries That Must Fix Security Issues or Face Visa Limits
People from these countries could also face travel restrictions soon if their governments do not fix security problems. These countries are:
Angola
Antigua and Barbuda
Belarus
Benin
Bhutan
Burkina Faso
Cabo Verde
Cambodia
Cameroon
Chad
Democratic Republic of the Congo
Dominica
Equatorial Guinea
Gambia
Liberia
Malawi
Mauritania
Pakistan
Republic of the Congo
Saint Kitts and Nevis
Saint Lucia
Sao Tome and Principe
Sierra Leone
East Timor
Turkmenistan
Vanuatu
The US government worker did not say when the final list will be announced. More countries may also be added. If these new rules become real, many people from these countries will not be able to visit, study, or work in the US. This plan is expected to cause strong reactions from people around the world.
