Supajee Suthamphan has reaffirmed Thailand’s ambition for a “365 Days of Amazing Thailand” tourism strategy, focusing on year-round travel options while addressing the pressing issue of PM2.5 air pollution.
In her remarks to Parliament, she elaborated that this concept does not suggest that all destinations are available daily under every weather condition. Rather, it showcases Thailand’s vibrant tourism calendar, featuring seasonal attractions across different regions throughout the year.
Her explanation emphasized that the initiative seeks to optimize the nation’s tourism potential by diversifying visitor distribution across regions and seasons. This strategy aims to create consistent income for local communities and promote a sustainable tourism economy.
Simultaneously, Supajee highlighted that the challenge of PM2.5 air pollution is a profound concern impacting public health. She pointed out that environmental issues must be confronted alongside economic objectives.
The government is taking action to address the underlying causes of pollution, such as regulating open burning and enhancing air quality monitoring frameworks. These initiatives are intended to provide both immediate and long-range benefits.
Supajee emphasized that the advancement of tourism and the protection of the environment must progress in tandem. She noted that economic growth should not compromise the quality of life for citizens.
The government has reiterated its dedication to balancing tourism growth with environmental obligations, ensuring sustainable development while prioritizing public health across Thailand.
